The Research Center is staffed by a group of over one hundred volunteers supervised by  Executive Director, Beth Dippel. 

The volunteers specialize in different areas of expertise. On staff are two librarians, an archivist, a photo curator, two genealogy experts and  two photographers.

Volunteer Opportunities at the Research Center

Do you have a passion for local history?

Do you have a special talent and want to share your time with others?

Then there is a place for you at the Sheboygan County Historical Research Center.

Volunteers are an important part of the Research Center’s success. We need your time and talent.
We need volunteers to:

• Research genealogy inquiries.
• Write articles for The Researcher, SCHRC’s newsletter.
• Write articles for publicity- articles about new collections, photos or research materials.
• Help keep our Facebook site up-to-date and active.
• Process information to be uploaded to SCHRC’s new website- Needed after September 1, 2011.
• Clip newspapers and donated items for general files.
• Examine the Library's bookshelves ensure proper order.
• Examine the General Information files to ensure proper order.
• Examine the Photo files to ensure proper order.
• Copy and fold brochures
• Assist with newsletter mailings: folding, taping and applying labels
• Assist with annual campaign mailing: folding letters, stuffing and sealing envelopes, applying mailing labels
• Index historical records and archival materials so that are of greater use to researchers and genealogists
• Identify historic photographs of people, places, and events from our county prior to entry into the main collection.
• And much more.

Volunteer hours normally coincide with business hours- Tuesday through Friday from 9:00am to 4:00pm and Saturday mornings from 8:30am to 12:00 noon. Volunteers need not set a rigid schedule for their work time. They may come in when they have the time and ambition, but we do encourage a regular schedule each week in the interest of keeping their projects moving.

Volunteers from all walks of life and of all ages, with a variety of interests and knowledge are encouraged to participate.
